When you’re preparing to downsize or move to a senior living community, there are a lot of moving pieces to pull together. You’ll need to meet with real estate agents, schedule movers, research neighborhoods or communities, decide what improvements to make to prep your existing home for sale, determine how to maximize the amount of money you make from your home sale, coordinate timelines, and more. Our team understands that these decisions can quickly become overwhelming. That’s why we act as your liaison throughout the entire process! Our SRES accredited real estate agents work with you to not only sell your home for the highest dollar amount but also within a timeline that works with your move schedule, and our moving team is specially trained to make sure your move is a success from beginning to end. When you choose to work with the Senior Living Experience team, you choose to work with a group of professional local experts that have handled hundreds of moves for our clients.
SRES stands for Seniors Real Estate Agent Specialist. This designation provides real estate agents with the expertise to guide homebuyers and sellers over the age of 50 through major financial and lifestyle transitions, like downsizing or moving into senior living communities. To earn this designation, agents complete an intensive Seniors Real Estate Specialist course that covers knowledge and techniques that realtors need to best serve senior clients, including key differences in housing options like age-restricted communities and assisted living facilities, the Housing for Older Persons Act (HOPA), the ins and outs of reverse mortgages, how to use pensions, 401(k) accounts, and IRAs in real estate transactions, ways in which Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security affect real estate decisions for seniors, how to recognize and protect clients from mortgage finance and loan schemes, and more. SRES certified real estate agents must also maintain active membership in the SRES Council and the National Association of REALTORS to stay up-to-date on any important information for senior clients.
There are a handful of variables that need to be understood and assessed in order to accurately determine how much your move will cost. There are some communities who will cover a portion of your move costs. Our long-standing relationships with local senior communities mean that we’re able to work hand-in-hand with them to understand the specifics of your move – including what assistance they can offer, what a move into their community entails, and what the floor plan of your new home will be so we can accurately plan which items you’ll be taking and where they’ll fit. This helps us ensure you don’t end up spending extra money moving items that won’t fit in your new space. When you meet with our team, we’ll work with you to create a plan that fits both your timeline and your budget.
We recognize that not every client is the same, so not every home sale is the same. That’s why we offer multiple home sale options, one of which is selling your home in an “as is” condition to a licensed real estate investor who won’t require home inspections, occupancy permits, and other typical contract contingencies. This option is often faster than a typical market sale, and is also great for clients who don’t wish to invest in improvements or upgrades to sell their home. Our “as is” team offers to pay for our clients’ closing fees and is committed to making the process simple and transparent. When you meet with our team, we’ll discuss the multiple home sale options we offer so that you and your family can make the decision that is best for your specific needs.
YES! We offer an all-inclusive move, which means our pricing includes packing up the items you want to move and unpacking them upon arrival at your new home. This is one of our favorite services to offer clients, because it means you’ll come home to a fully furnished home and not a scene of moving boxes, packing paper, and stress!
