Selling With a Licensed Real Estate Agent

Today’s topic is something that our team here at Senior Living Experience are really passionate about. Today, we’re going to talk about selling your home via a licensed real estate agent. We all know there are multiple ways to sell your home, which we will explore in future videos, but today we’re going to focus on selling through a licensed agent. You can also find and download a document about everything discussed here today on our website (www.seniorlivingexp.com).

Selling Your Home Via a Licensed Real Estate Agent in St Louis

So let me first start off by saying that when we say licensed real estate agent our team here at Senior Living Experience will encourage you to preferably work with what we call a SRES certified real estate agent. What that means is that they are a Senior Real Estate Specialist. In order to get this accreditation  they receive special training that is geared to senior living and senior housing. This encompasses the emotional processes and thoughts that are happening during this time of transition for you. These types of home sales are very unique, and when coupling that with downsizing it’s super important to work with someone who truly understands all those different and unique aspects to your situation, which is why we recommend you reach out to someone who is SRES certified.  We’ve seen the huge difference it’s made and the positive impact it’s had on our clients.

Selling Your Home Through an Agent

The ideal candidate for selling their home through a licensed real estate agent may be someone with a little more time and flexibility in their schedule. Sometimes homes sell really quickly and sometimes they take a little longer. Now there’s a lot more details that go into why a home would sell fast or not but as long as your able to be flexible, working with an agent can definitely work. Another perk is if your home is well maintained. It might not be completely up to today’s standards like white kitchen cabinets and marble kitchen tops, hardwood floors throughout the home, you know, some of the things today’s homebuyers are looking for. And although your home may not look like what they’re interested in, today’s homebuyers are also wanting a home that’s been taken care of and the big mechanics maintained, and not walk into a bunch of problems or a fixer upper.

Some of the drawbacks of going through a licensed agent is that it could take a little longer to sell your house. Another drawback is getting through the inspection period. Obviously a good real estate agent is going to walk you through the inspection period but we all know that the deal is done until it’s been closed. It’s extremely important that you have the right agent navigating through this process.

One of the biggest things you want to think about when selling through a real estate agent is how much money are you going to make on the sale of your home. People don’t know or don’t understand all the hidden costs that come up when you sell your home the traditional way.

If you’re thinking of selling your home and not quite sure how to go about it give us a call today. We’d love to chat and answer all your questions.
